IPL 2025 Set to Resume from May 15 or 16 After Brief Suspension
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to resume next week, with the most likely restart dates being May 15 or 16. According to sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may make an official announcement today or tomorrow.
The tournament was temporarily suspended for one week due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. However, following the announcement of a ceasefire between the two nations on Saturday, preparations are now underway to restart the season.
So far, 57 matches have been played in the 2025 edition of the IPL. The suspension occurred during the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, and the tournament is expected to resume from that very game.
Reports indicate that most of the foreign players who left India on Friday and Saturday will soon be asked to return and rejoin their respective teams. Over 60 international players are currently participating across the 10 teams in this year’s IPL. The BCCI has confirmed that all remaining matches will be completed on time, with a revised schedule to be released soon.
Before the suspension, Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, were at the top of the points table. They were followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians in the top four.
