A case of this disease has been detected in Yellowstone National Park America. Medical experts have also expressed concern about its spread among humans. Scientists call this disease a slow-moving disaster. Doctors fear that it is spreading throughout America. Concerns have increased after a case of this disease was found in Yellowstone National Park because there is no cure for this deadly disease.
This disease is also called Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). According to the US health agency, CDC, this is an old and terrible disease that first appears in deer, elk, reindeer, sika deer and rats. This virus, the CWD prion, eats the animals’ brains, causing their death. There is no treatment or vaccine for it. It affects both animals and humans. However, there is no strong evidence that humans can be infected with CWD prions from animals.
Due to this disease, brain and spinal cord cells bend abnormally and start sticking together. About a year after being infected, animals start showing symptoms like dementia, staggering, drooling, aggression and weight loss. Which gradually becomes the cause of death.
