People are dying due to extreme heat in India: The growing threat of global warming

    New Delhi: Many areas of North India are likely to experience intense heat on Wednesday. The heat will gradually decrease as the western disturbance moves towards northwest India.

    According to the information, six people have died in Varanasi district hospital and four in divisional hospital due to heat. In Sarnath, a cyclist fell unconscious and died. One person has also died in Sewapuri. Similarly, 15 people have died in Mirzapur. 12 people have also died in Ballia. Seven people have died in Ghazipur and Chandauli. Two people have died in Sonbhadra, one each in Azamgarh, Bhadohi and Mau.

    According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), severe heat wave continues to prevail in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Delhi, most parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and some parts of northern Madhya Pradesh. Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, northwest Rajasthan, northwest Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic plains in West Bengal and various parts of Jammu division are also in intense heat.

    The maximum temperature in most parts of the plains of North India remained around 44-46 degrees Celsius and it was 5-8 degrees Celsius above normal in the region.

    The Meteorological Department has said that during the next three days, conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic plains of West Bengal, remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar and Jharkhand.
