Maxwell scored the fastest century in World Cup history.

    New Delhi: Australia’s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has scored the fastest century in ICC Cricket World Cup history. Maxwell achieved this feat against Netherlands in the 24th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Right-handed batsman Maxwell scored a century in just 40 balls.

    Smith-Nile pair’s record broken: The pair of Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins broke the record of Steve Smith and Nathan Coulter-Nile by making a partnership of 103 runs for the seventh wicket. Nile and Smith had made a partnership of 102 runs for the seventh wicket against the West Indies in Nottingham in the 2019 World Cup. This is the record for Australia’s highest partnership at seventh or lower order in the World Cup.

    Aiden Markaram had earlier scored a century in 49 balls against Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup. Earlier, former Ireland batsman Kevin O’Brien had scored a century in the World Cup in 50 balls against England in 2011. In 2015, Maxwell completed a century in 51 balls against Sri Lanka. In the 2015 World Cup, former South African batsman AB de Villiers has also scored a century in the World Cup in 52 balls.

    Maxwell scored 106 runs in 44 balls: Glenn Maxwell was out after scoring 106 runs in 44 balls. During this period he hit 9 fours and 8 sixes. Maxwell along with Pat Cummins added 103 runs for the seventh wicket. Australia scored 399 runs for 8 wickets on the basis of David Warner (104) and Maxwell’s century.

    Glenn Maxwell hit 9 sixes in his world record century innings. During this, he broke the records of Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting who had hit the same 8-8 sixes.
