The biggest bid was received on Mitchell Starc in the auction for IPL 2024. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has broken Pat Cummins’ record, which was made just a few minutes ago. Kolkata Knight Riders team got Starc as its share by paying a huge amount of Rs 24.75 crores. Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans fought a long battle to buy Starc, which KKR won.
Just a few minutes ago in the auction, Australian captain Pat Cummins was bought by Sunriders Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore. Cummins became the most expensive player of the tournament after being sold for Rs 20.50. But after a few minutes, this record was broken by buying Starc for Rs 24.75 crore. KKR made such a big bid on Starc.
Starc has a lot of experience in playing internationally and in IPL. The left-arm Australian bowler also performed well in the recently held ODI World Cup. He took 16 wickets in 10 matches of the World Cup at an average of 33.00. Starc previously played IPL in 2014 and 2015. Although at that time he was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Whereas for the auction being held for the 2024 IPL, Starc had kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. The Australian pacer got almost 12 times more than the base price.
